Cann River is a remote community of nearly 200 people in the Far East of Victoria, surrounded by tens of thousands of hectares of Bush. Cann River is a tight-knit community with a longstanding tradition of looking after each other, and Ready 2 Go is a very neat fit.

The Cann River Community Centre is piloting Ready to Go in 2018-19, connecting community volunteers with vulnerable people who need extra help to manage the risks of extreme weather events, including bushfires.

The Ready2Go Program

Ready2Go helps vulnerable and isolated people who require extra support to remain in the community they love with the assistance of a trained volunteer who checks on them to ensure they are safe and hydrated on extreme weather days as well as early relocation if they desire.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you must have a full driver's license, a registered car with comprehensive insurance and be willing to obtain a Police Check and Working with Children Check. Training is provided for all volunteers.

If you or someone you know may benefit from this program or would like to know more about program in your area, please contact your local Ready2Go Cann River.
