ECHO is a Network Partner for the Be Connected Program, helping Australians over 50 years old to improve their digital skills. Be Connected offers free online courses covering topics such as: making video calls; connecting with family and friends online; shopping on the internet; introducing internet safety; researching family history; and using Google Earth
You can sign up at beconnected.esafety.gov.au and list ECHO (Emerald Centre for Hope and Outreach) as your support centre.
In 2020 ECHO also partnered with the Emerald Library and Hills Hub to pilot a Laptop Buddy Program. Laptops were provided to people who were disconnected from the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and volunteers provided phone support to them as they learned how to use their new devices.
