Ready2Go is an important program in the Eastern Hills region with the threat of bushfires and storms. Ready2Go helps vulnerable and isolated people who require extra support to remain in the community they love with the assistance of a trained volunteer who checks on them to ensure they are safe and hydrated on high heat days as well as relocating them to an agreed location if they desire. Ready2Go currently operates in Cockatoo and plans to expand to cover Emerald in 2017.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you must have a full driver's license, a registered car with comprehensive insurance and be willing to obtain a Police Check and Working With Children Check. Training is provided for all volunteers. For more information or to request an application form please email email@example.com
In September 2016 Echo Youth and Family Services launched a Community Manual that will be able to assist other communities to develop Ready2Go in their area. If you or someone you know may benefit from this program, or if your community would be interested in starting the program in your area, please contact us on (03)5968 4460 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Echo Youth and Family Services was thrilled to receive recognition at the Fire Awareness Awards on December 1st 2016, with the Ready2Go Program winning the Access and Inclusion Award and the RACV Insurance Excellence Award for community programs. Ready2Go also received a State Highly Commended at the 2016 Resilient Australia Awards.
Ready2Go is funded by Gandel Philanthropy.
