The Emergency Support Team (EST) is a community led and designed recovery and resilience group that is available to provide leadership and support to the people of Emerald during the period directly following an emergency or major bushfire event in our region. The EST does not replace existing emergency response activities, the objective is to play a key role in Emerald's recovery and resilience building efforts both before and after a disaster with the help of our trained and prepared volunteers.
The EST will be activated if an event of significant consequences for the Emerald community occurs and to establish a temporary community support hub where needed.
Volunteers will work in teams to establish care in areas of registration for displaced persons, communication with other agencies, personal support for the general public, initial provision of drinking water/food, information and updates, initial animal care, and logistics support for a Temporary Community Support Hub.
The EST is funded by donations from the community.
